Hey Reader, Thank you for all the advice! So many of you shared your thoughts about the dance of kids coming home, leaving again, and all the little ground rules we need in between. Hereâs my favorite one: âIf youâre staying here, please let us know what time youâll be back. Not a control thing, but we have a life tooâand we want to know if the person coming in at midnight is you or an intruder.â ---Alicia Yes! đ We have a life too. (If youâre new here, my son Zack just wrapped up his first year of college. And now my dining room looks like this đł) To be fair, thatâs a drastically reduced pile. We worked together, and he unpacked quickly. Whatâs left is already packed for his return in August. Now weâre turning toward summerâtwo weddings, a beach trip, and a few more adventures. Because around here, itâs always: experiences over stuff. If you want to follow along and see how I travel light, live with less, and enjoy moreâyouâll find me over on Facebook. I share real-life tips (and maybe a beach photo or two) nearly every day. And if youâre planning a getaway this summer, try a little minimalist packing. It makes travel lighter in every way. P.S. Quick poll before you go:

Hey Reader, Years ago, when my son was little, I was deep in clutterâand deep in denial. I think I was an organized hoarder. đł Hereâs what I believed at the time: âI just need better storage.â â I thought the right bins or baskets would finally make everything feel organized. âRearranging will fix it.â â Iâd spend hours moving stuff around instead of making real decisions. âI should use every inch of space.â â I believed empty drawers were wasted space, so I filled them⌠whether I needed the...
Hey Reader, Did you guess? Itâs Zack. One year ago, celebrating his high school graduation â¤ď¸ If youâre new around here, my son Zack just wrapped up his first year of college. One whole yearâgone in a blink! And today... weâre picking him up. đą I. Cannot. Wait. Tonight, heâll sleep in his own bed, safe and sound. My heart is full. And yet... weâre also feeling a little apprehensive. Can I tell you a secret? We kind of like empty nesting. I feel a little guilty even saying that. But my coach...
Hey Reader, What season are you in right now? I donât mean spring or summer (or âpollen with a side of 40-degree nights,â as we call it here in the Mid-Atlantic). I mean your season of life. Are you⌠Empty nesting and craving simplicity? Stepping on Legos and buried under toys? Or somewhere in betweenâjuggling aging parents and growing kids? That last one? Thatâs me right now. They call it the Sandwich Generation, and itâs real. My husband and I are helping care for four aging parents. We...
