I almost closed my business

Hey Reader,

There's a version of this story where I walk away.

Where the weight of everything — a father's cancer diagnosis, my in-laws' failing health, my son's near-fatal accident, a business I'd spread too thin — becomes too much. Where I decide the most responsible thing I can do is quit and focus on my family.

I almost told that version of the story.

I'm so glad I didn't.

By the summer of 2024, I'd been in business eight years and I was spread thin across too many offers. Then my dad was diagnosed with cancer. Then, the night before my son left for college, the phone rang at 11:30 PM.

I came this close to closing Simply Enough for good.

I've never fully told the story of what stopped me, the moment that broke something open in me, and why I picked up the phone and finally committed instead of walking away.

It's on the blog today. If you're in a season that feels like too much right now, I wrote this one for you.

Here's the short version of what I learned: You don't have to choose between your family and your dreams. But you might have to reset one to protect the other. It doesn't have to be all or nothing. It just has to be honest and intentional. It has to be yours.

I almost closed my business. Instead, I built the one I was always supposed to have.

Hey Reader, I sold my son's blue whale at a yard sale. He was little. It was in the pile. A young child picked it up, and I let it go for a quarter while Zack watched with tears in his eyes. Thankfully, he doesn't remember it. But I will never forget it. And I don't wish that on anyone. Here's what most people get wrong about decluttering and what our clients get wrong too. They start with someone else's stuff. The kids' toys. Hubby's hat collection. The boxes that were never theirs in the...

Hey Reader, If you've ever typed "what should I charge as a professional organizer" into Google, you already know what comes back. A range so wide it's basically useless. So I made a video that actually answers the question. Not with a number. With a framework that's built around how and when you want to work, what you need to earn, and the pricing model that creates consistent income instead of unpredictable months. We start with a math problem. I want you to think about your last organizing...

Hey Reader, We’re moving into summer fast. The school routine is gone, work is a little slower, and “flexible” can quickly turn into chaos. I’ve coached enough women through the summer slide to know that without some structure in place, June momentum becomes August exhaustion. The kids notice. So does your calendar and your bank account. Our son is launched, but Steve and I still build a summer rhythm on purpose. It’s intentional, just the way I like it. Here’s what we actually do: Sunday...
