What our family does so summer doesn't fall apart

Hey Reader,

We’re moving into summer fast. The school routine is gone, work is a little slower, and “flexible” can quickly turn into chaos.

I’ve coached enough women through the summer slide to know that without some structure in place, June momentum becomes August exhaustion. The kids notice. So does your calendar and your bank account.

Our son is launched, but Steve and I still build a summer rhythm on purpose. It’s intentional, just the way I like it.

Here’s what we actually do:

  • Sunday meal prep based on the food inventory we already have and factoring in our travel plans
  • French press and devotional before my phone, every morning
  • One reverse errand session each week: donation drop off, recycle electronics, mail packages, return items that belong to friends, drop off muffins to my neighbor's kids who love them, you get the idea. Stuff leaves the house...every. single. week.
  • Exercise blocked on the calendar like a client appointment, three times a week
  • Sunday at church when we're not traveling - non-negotiable

I'm not trying to do more in the summer. I'm eliminating decision fatigue with some simple routines and habit stacks.

I have six habits that make the biggest difference for my family and my clients.

Pick one. Start there.

Your calendar reflects your values.

What do you see?

Amy

P.S. If your summer rhythm is already showing cracks, that’s the messy middle. It’s exactly what we work on inside 1:1 coaching.

Hey Reader, I'm hearing this from women who are running businesses and those who want to start one. "I'll figure it out when the kids go back to school.""I just need to get through summer.""I've got a lot going on, and it's not the best time for my business." I get it. The calendar is loose. The kids are home. Vacation needs planning. Aging parents need visits. 🙋♀️ A business is one more thing competing for the same hours. But here's the thing: it's never going to be the right time to grow...

Hey Reader, We're halfway through the year. New Year's resolutions might be long gone. But it's a good time to look at some small habits that can make a big difference, especially with your finances. Did you know that the average American household carries over $11,500 in credit card debt? And 78% of us are living paycheck to paycheck. If that's where you are, you're not behind. You're just ready for a different approach, like one of my clients is embracing right now. Let me tell you the...

Hey Reader, I came across a reel this week that stopped my scroll. A woman is standing in her parents' garage. She's trying to clear a path, just enough room for a wheelchair. Because her parents need medical equipment now. A hospital bed is coming. And the garage, like so much of the house, is buried. She's been trying to help her parents deal with this for years. And now they're in crisis. And so is she. In the comments, someone told her to just leave it alone. Use the inheritance to clean...
